What does this teacher monthly to hourly calculator do?
The Teacher Monthly to Hourly Salary Calculator 2026/27 converts your monthly gross
teaching pay into an estimated hourly rate, daily pay, weekly salary and annual earnings.
It’s ideal if you want to understand the hourly value of your pay scale, compare job offers or plan your finances.
Simply enter your monthly salary and your contracted weekly hours
(for example, 32.5 or 37.5 hours). The calculator then works out your hourly rate and shows a clear
breakdown of what that looks like per day, week and year.
Use it to: compare monthly vs. hourly roles, check the value of a promotion or TLR,
estimate what a supply or tutoring rate would equate to as a monthly salary, or project your yearly income
from your current teaching contract.
Top features:
- Instant conversion from monthly pay to hourly, daily, weekly and annual figures.
- Side-by-side comparison for two different monthly salaries and weekly hours.
- Customisable weekly hours to match any teaching timetable or contract pattern.
- Aligned with typical 2026/27 UK tax year assumptions.

How this teacher monthly to hourly calculator works
This calculator converts your monthly teacher salary into an
hourly, weekly, daily and
annual pay estimate using:
Hourly rate = (Monthly salary × 12) ÷ (Weekly hours × 52)
For example, if you earn £2,800 per month and work 32.5 hours per week, the calculator multiplies
£2,800 × 12 to get £33,600 per year, then divides by (32.5 × 52) to give your approximate hourly rate.
It then uses that figure to show your estimated daily and weekly pay as well.
Who is this teacher calculator for?
This tool is designed for:
- Classroom teachers on the Main and Upper Pay Ranges.
- Supply teachers comparing monthly income to agency or daily rates.
- Teaching assistants and higher level TAs checking the hourly value of their monthly pay.
- Middle and senior leaders assessing the impact of TLRs or additional responsibilities.
- Part-time teachers working a fractional timetable and variable hours.
Why use a teacher-specific monthly to hourly calculator?
Teacher pay is often quoted as an annual or monthly figure linked to national or local pay scales,
while workload and hours can vary significantly between schools and roles. Converting your salary into an hourly rate helps you:
- Compare different schools, academies or roles on a like-for-like basis.
- See whether a new post is really a pay rise or pay cut once hours are considered.
- Understand the impact of moving from full-time to part-time, or increasing your teaching load.
- Budget more accurately around your real hourly earnings as a teacher.
Example teacher monthly to hourly conversions
- £2,000 monthly at 32.5h → ≈ £14.18 per hour.
- £2,400 monthly at 32.5h → ≈ £17.01 per hour.
- £3,000 monthly at 37.5h → ≈ £18.46 per hour.
